UK Box Office Climbs to £233,687 with just a 3% Drop in Second Weekend

The Gujarati-language sleeper hit LAALO: KRISHNA SADA SAHAAYATE is rewriting box office history worldwide, delivering one of the strongest performances ever seen for a regional Indian film.
After becoming the highest-grossing Gujarati film of all time in the UK within just three days of release, LAALO has now achieved an extraordinary £233,687 at the UK box office by the end of its second weekend. The film added £86,993 in weekend two – a drop of only 3% from its opening weekend — an exceptional hold, especially considering competition from major studio releases including Wicked: For Good. The film is now on track to reach £300,000 by its third weekend.
Made on a micro-budget of just £40,000 GBP (50 lakh INR), LAALO has become a staggering cultural and commercial phenomenon.
India Box Office:
Over £6 million GBP (₹70 crore), and still going strong in its 7th week.
UK Box Office:
• Highest-grossing Gujarati film of all time — achieved in 72 hours.
• £233,687 after second weekend, heading rapidly toward the £300k milestone.
• Only a 3% drop week-on-week — unprecedented for a regional Indian title.
• Highest location/screen average across all UK films during opening weekend: £6,401.
Speaking about its historic success, Prakash Bakrania, UK Distributor, Bakrania Media said; “What’s happening with LAALO is extraordinary. The film was made for a little over £40k, yet in India it has already crossed £6 million and is still surging in its seventh week. By the time we released it internationally, the momentum was unstoppable.
The UK was always going to be a huge market because of its passionate Gujarati-speaking audience, but even we didn’t expect it to become the highest-grossing Gujarati film of all time here within just three days. To then hold with only a 3% drop in the second weekend — despite major new releases — shows how deeply the film is connecting.
Our distribution was built on community energy: social media, influencers, and authentic word-of-mouth. The response has been overwhelming, and the film is now heading towards the £300k mark. This is a landmark moment for Gujarati cinema globally.”
LAALO: KRISHNA SADA SAHAAYATE blends humour, heart, and spiritual resonance, capturing the imagination of Gujarati audiences worldwide. Directed by Ankit Sakhiya, the film stars Reeva Rachh, Shruhad Goswami, and Karan Joshi, with special appearances by Akash Pandya and Maulik Chauhan.
Its global success marks a major milestone for regional Indian cinema and reflects a growing appetite for culturally rooted stories with universal appeal.
The film is on general release nationwide in the UK through Bakrania Media.
