ZEE5 Global, the world’s leading South Asian video streaming platform, presents fans the interesting and unseen narrative of Lee-Hesh in BREAKPOINT, a 7-part series that will not only construct their epic tennis matches but also deconstruct their relationship, both on and off the court. Aside from their achievements on the court, the charismatic couple is recognized for their off-court life and their public divorce, which shattered the nation’s heart. All of this will now be brought to life in ZEE5’s Original series BREAKPOINT by famous directors Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari of Dangal, Chhichhore, Bareilly Ki Barfi, and Panga fame.
While the posters piqued people’s interest and piqued their curiosity, the trailer for the highly anticipated series has finally arrived and is sure to spark debate. This is the first time the tennis legends have been open and honest about their divorce, putting conjecture to rest by each telling their side of the tale. The trailer also includes tennis legends Sania Mirza, Bob Bryan, and Mike Bryan, as well as other relatives and friends, and goes on to depict Lee-famous Hesh’s combination, which placed Indian tennis on the map and led to them becoming the most feared doubles team in the late 1990s.
“We are incredibly thrilled to present the first look of Breakpoint,” says Nimisha Pandey, Head, Hindi Originals, ZEE5. It is a human narrative of a friendship, a collaboration, and a competition that shaped the careers and lives of two of India’s most productive players. The spectator will see the beauty of the game and real sportsmanship in this seven-part series, but they will also see the fragility of victory. Our tales’ sincerity and relevancy make them relevant to a wide range of customer groups. At ZEE5, we not only comprehend our creators’ many views but we are also immersed in the kaleidoscope of universes that comprise our viewers’ reality.
Archana Anand, Chief Business Officer, ZEE5 Global, commented on the offering, saying, “We are pleased to be presenting this very special hidden narrative of India’s tennis heroes to our fans throughout the world.” BREAKPOINT chronicles the gripping narrative of these two remarkable athletes, providing spectators with a ring-side perspective of their passionate connection, legendary triumphs on the court, and heartbreaking divorce off the court. This seven-part series is one for the ages, and fans will be able to witness Lee-journey Hesh’s like never before.”
“We have always been more interested in the individuals behind the symbols, and that’s what we’ve attempted to portray in BREAKPOINT,” say directors Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari, who will be co-directing a movie for the first time. Both Leander and Mahesh are big sports champions, but in this series, they are two buddies who expose their hearts to the public and express emotion. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share their hidden tale, which will also teach the Do and Don’ts of outstanding partnerships to our country’s striving young. We are thrilled to be working with ZEE5 on this one.”
“It seems weird to watch me on TV, laying my life out there for the world to see,” Leander Paes says. But I recognise that much has been said and speculated about, and there is no better way to put it to rest than to address it directly. So, I’m glad we’re having an opportunity to share our tale personally, and I hope the public continues to enjoy our on-court collaboration while also respecting our reasons for breaking up.”
“All couples go through turbulence and highs and lows,” Mahesh Bhupathi says. While the rest of the world is aware of our on-court collaboration, this is the first time they will learn about our off-court life and connection. However, that should not detract from our wins and accomplishments since, despite our disagreements, Lee-Hesh made history, and we are proud of that.”
ZEE5’s first collaboration with directors Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari under their company, Earthsky Production, is BREAKPOINT. The seven-part series, which will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, will launch on ZEE5 on October 1st.
