One of the most beloved love stories in Hindi cinema, Veer-Zaara (2004), starring Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, is set to commemorate its 20th anniversary on 12th November this year. In celebration of this milestone, Yash Raj Films has announced a special re-release of the film in international markets. While several films have been re-released, this particular event is noteworthy as Veer-Zaara will be showcased all over the world.
A source said “To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Veer-Zaara, the studio is organizing a significant re-release on 7th November 2024 in international territories. They intend to present the film to audiences in regions such as North America, the Middle East, the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, and South Africa.”
The source further mentioned, “This re-release is unique as it offers foreign fans the chance to partake in the re-release trend for the first time. Moreover, the song ‘Yeh Hum Aa Gaye Hai Kahaan’ has been added to this version. It was left out of the original release, presumably due to the film’s length, and although it appeared on the DVD, it never aired in theaters. Now, viewers can finally experience it on the big screen.”
November 2024 promises to be a significant month for Shah Rukh Khan. He will turn 59 on 2nd November 2024 followed by the overseas re-release of Veer-Zaara, and then his classic film Karan Arjun (1995) will also see a global re-release on 22nd November 2024.
Directed by Yash Chopra, Veer-Zaara narrates the tale of a Squadron Leader in the Indian Air Force who falls in love with a young Pakistani girl during her visit to India. The story takes a dramatic turn when he travels to Pakistan to meet her and is wrongfully imprisoned. He endures 22 years behind bars until a passionate Pakistani lawyer comes to his rescue. The epic narrative also features Rani Mukerji, Divya Dutta, Kirron Kher, and Manoj Bajpayee, along with notable cameos from Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini.
