Shah Rukh Khan is going through a tough time professionally with films like Zero and Jab Harry Met Sejal failing on all fronts. But after nearly 5 years of absence, this year Shah Rukh returns to the big screen with the action thriller Pathaan. People absolutely loved his action avatar and the film became a huge commercial success grossing over 1,050 crore at the worldwide box office.
Although more than six months have passed since its debut in theatres, director Sidharth Anand’s film continues to achieve milestones in various Asian countries. Most recently is India’s neighboring country Nepal, where Pathaan has topped Avatar 2’s lifetime collection. Pathaan has so far sold more than 40,000 37,000 tickets compared to 2,680,000 tickets of Avatar 2.
That number is staggering and impressive, because topping a big-budget Hollywood movie in terms of ticket sales is no small feat. Today, Pathaan has become the highest-grossing Bollywood film in Nepal in terms of Nepalese rupees. Here’s a look at some of the top wholesalers in the country, as another entry also features Shah Rukh Khan.
Pathaan Is Set To Release In Japan
Earlier this month, it was reported that Deepika Padukone, starring Shah Rukh Khan, will hit theatres in Japan on September 1st. Fans believe the film will join the list of the highest-grossing Indian films in Japan. This list also includes RRR, Baahubali 2 and 3 Baka. During its theatrical release in India, Pathan made a whopping gross of Rs 543.05 crore. So far, the film has grossed about $400 million at the international box office, making it perhaps the highest-grossing Hindi-language film of all time in foreign markets, combined with figures from Nepal and Japan. It is also the first Bollywood film to surpass $1 billion without being released in China.
