
Mumbai glittered on Thursday evening as Sitaare Zameen Par – Aamir Khan’s latest film – hosted its grand premiere, drawing an extraordinary lineup of Indian cinema’s biggest stars. The much-anticipated screening took place on 19 June, ahead of the film’s global release, and turned into an unforgettable night of love, laughter, and cinematic pride.
In a rare sight, Indian film icons Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan both attended, delighting fans and photographers alike. A lighthearted moment between superstars Salman and Aamir quickly went viral: Salman quipped to the paparazzi that Sitaare Zameen Par was first offered to him before Aamir decided to take on the lead role himself.
Shah Rukh Khan, meanwhile, was seen warmly greeting the film’s debutant actors. Dressed in a casual white tee, hoodie, and beanie, he posed for photographs and offered encouragement. His attendance followed the release of a behind-the-scenes video revealing a surprise visit to the film’s set. “Aamir has told me at least 10 times, ‘Come and meet the actors, they’re doing so well.’ Even three days ago, he said, ‘Shah, tu ana yaar!’” said Shah Rukh in the clip.
Also spotted at the premiere were Rekha, Asha Bhosale, Juhi Chawla, Vicky Kaushal, Tiger Shroff, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Jeetendra, Kriti Kharbanda, Sunny Kaushal, Tushar Kapoor, Rekha, Shatrughan Sinha, Juhi Chawala, Ali Fazal, Jackie Shroff, Nitanshi Goel, Dhwani Bhanushali, Aashutosh Rana, Renuka Vyvhare, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani, Darsheel Safari, Ahsaas Channa and more. Sitaare Zameen Par – a spiritual successor to Taare Zameen Par (2007) – is directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan Productions. The film stars Genelia Deshmukh opposite Aamir Khan and introduces ten debutant actors with intellectual disabilities: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, Naman Misra, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Ashish Pendse, Samvit Desai, Simran Mangeshkar, and Aayush Bhansali. The ensemble cast also features Dolly Ahluwalia, Gurpal Singh, Brijendra Kala, and Ankita Sehgal.
The film has already begun to win hearts, with glowing early reactions from media and audiences.
