The film’s director, Zoya Akhtar, took an opportunity to provide some details about the musical journey. “We are really excited to finally release the entire album for our audiences,” the speaker stated. The record is distinct from the film because of its comic book storyline, 1960s setting, and young adult vibe. The film is a musical. More than I could have ever imagined—Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Ankur Tewari, Dot, my father, Arijit Singh, and Tejas on one CD. I wanted a smile-inducing record. I hope the listeners feel the same way about this one.
“With ‘The Archies’ music, we’ve aimed to create something refreshing for the audiences,” the brilliant duo Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy said in reference to their experience writing the soundtrack for the movie. Together with a gifted group of musicians and lyricists, the music from the 1960s offers a distinct mood. “Plum Pudding” is our particular fave, and we’re eager to see how others react to it and the rest of our music.”
“Working on this album has been an incredibly exciting and collaborative process,” said composer, singer, and songwriter Ankur Tewar, expressing his delight over the entire album release. I had a great time working with amazing musicians from different eras, such as Dot, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, and Javed Akhtar Sir, to create music with a ’60s feel. Working with Zoya Akhtar as musicians was a rewarding experience because of her clear vision, which helped everything go very well.
The album “The Archies” showcases partnerships with renowned musicians such as Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, vocalists including Arijit Singh, Ankur Tewari, and The Islanders, and lyricists Javed Akhtar and Dot. The soundtrack of the movie can now be found on Sony Music’s YouTube account and all streaming services.
“The Archies” is a collaboration effort between Netflix India, Tiger Baby, Archie Comics, Graphic India, and a heartwarming coming-of-age story set against the picturesque background of the 1960s. Under Zoya Akhtar’s direction, the movie will be available globally on Netflix on December 7, 2023.
